24/05/2012 SkillsConnection D.E.S. gains a 4 star rating and ranks in the top 20%.

Our Disability Employment Service has broken into the top 20% of the nation's DES providers and gained a four star rating.

The four star rating will guarantee that we continue to provide employment support to people with an intellectual disability, an injury or a health issue which presents a barrier to them gaining full time emloyment for years to come.
DES funding is dependant on providers achieving a minimum of 3 stars to qualify for ongoing funding and our four star rating means we are assured of ongoing funding until the rating is reviewed in 2018.

27/4/2012 SkillsConnection CEO wins Leadership Award at Victorian Disability Sector Awards.

After many years of service to people with a disability in Colac and South Western Victoria Marita Brady, CEO of SkillsConnection has been recognised as
an industry leader.

At the Victorian Disability Sector Awards on Thursday 26th of April at Federation Square in Melbourne Marita received the 2012 Leadership Award for her contribution to disability services in the state.

Nomination for the award is only open to people who have worked in the sector for at least ten years and shown exceptional skill and commitment in their leadership of a disability service.

Nominees must have made a significant contribution to developing services that
result in better outcomes or opportunities for people with a disability and be
recognised for their vision and professional approach by others in the industry.

The award was presented by the Minister for Community Services, the honourable Mary Wooldridge MP.

“It was enough of an honour to be nominated for this award” says Marita “so I could hardly believe it when they announced that I was the recipient.”

Marita began her career as a support worker at Colac’s Colanda Residential Centre.
She then moved into the non government sector and eventually accepted the role of CEO at SkillsConnection.
