Crew Leader

Casual - 30 hours per week

SkillsConnection requires the services of a Crew Leader / Disability Support Worker for Colac’s Jiffy Lawn and Garden Service, which is registered to provide house and yard maintenance.

The primary purpose of this role is to train and mentor supported employees (Crew Members) in generic employment and job-specific skills and to ensure Crew members reach their individual employment outcomes.  A manual driver’s license, Certificate IV in Disability and current 1st Aid Certificate are essential.

The successful applicant, with safety in mind, will be hands on with the manual work involved, quality and results driven and be able to work in various weather conditions.

Key responsibilities include:-

  • Contributing to the day to business operation and to provide support and encouragement to Crew Members
  • Effective and efficient written and verbal communication
  • Ensure a safe working environment
  • Work proactively, effectively and collaboratively with all people
  • Accepting of business priorities

We are seeking to employ friendly, helpful people with excellent communication abilities who work well autonomously and as part of a team.

We prefer experienced and qualified staff (disability and/or aged care qualifications) but we are happy to consider applicants with little or no experience as full training and support will be provided.

Our wide range of programs and support packages means we can offer applicants a broad variety of work, working hours and options to fit their lifestyle, personal interests and talents.

Successful applicants will be trialed on a casual or probationary basis.

Those who meet our high standards may be offered contracts.

Alternatively, you may also choose to remain as part of our casual staff pool.

Maintenance Officer

Permanent Part-Time

SkillsConnection requires the services of a Maintenance Officer to undertake property and asset maintenance across all of our sites in Colac.

The successful applicant will typically possess the following:

  • A manual drivers license (essential)
  • Experience in property maintenance or similar
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Attention to detail and pride of workmanship
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A positive “can do” attitude
  • Ability to complete manual labour type work in outdoor elements
  • Relevant Trade qualification would be well received(not essential)

Initially the position would be 15-20 (flexible as to hours) with the possibility of more hours in the future for the right applicant.
